Some women's breasts begin to sag and droop in the aftermath of pregnancy, from weight loss, or as a result of premature aging. The skin and ligaments that support the breast begin to stretch, and the breast loses its youthful shape.
If the breasts are small and sagging is minimal, the problem can be corrected by inserting an implant to produce sufficient elevation and enlargement.
If the breast size is adequate but the drooping is severe, breast lifting may he required, This procedure involves moving the nipple and breast tissue to a higher position by removing excess skin from the breast. This technique is similar to breast reduction, except that little or no breast tissue is removed.
If the breasts are both very small and very droopy, both a breast lift and implants may be needed for a good result.
